The WPT is headed to London… In an expansion move after PartyPoker acquired the World Poker Tour (WPT), the WPT has announced it’s first ever UK event. The WPT London Poker Classic will be held from August 29th to September 5th, 2010 at the Palm Beach Casino in the Mayfair Hotel. The host venue is located in the upscale Mayfair area and is one of the largest and most elegant casinos in London.

Players can qualify online for the WPT London Poker Classic at PartyPoker.com, as well as through a satellite series that will take place in London casinos and poker clubs this summer. The WPT London Poker Classic is scheduled in close proximity to London stops of the leading WSOPE and EPT poker tournaments, making London look like a veritable hotbed of poker activity this fall.
The WPT London event will be capped at 400 players, with a £5,000 + £300 buy-in. In addition to a large share of the prize pool, the winner claims a seat at the 2011 WPT Championship in Las Vegas, as well as a WPT title and bracelet.
The WPT also recently added a second French stop to the tour in Amneville, in addition to the Paris event. The WPT will likely continue their expansion efforts, keeping in line with their competitor’s efforts and the international popularity that poker tournaments have been enjoying. In the midst of the fanfare, London is in the spotlight this fall and many eyes are on the new WPT London Poker Classic addition…
