Steve Wynn has officially opened his latest and greatest creation – the Encore Hotel Resort in Macau. The all-suite, boutique resort just opened adjacent to its sister resort, the Wynn Macau. Wynn, owner of the Wynn and Encore in Las Vegas, is one of the biggest and most successful casino moguls in the world. Wynn also loves a good show, and he pulled out all of the stops for the grand opening of the Encore.
Wynn hired Phil Grucci to choreograph a fireworks show, set to music from the James Bond theme songs. A huge amount of fireworks were launched from the resort buildings and bridge in an amazing spectacle that lasted ten minutes. The show was Wynn’s way of thanking the government of Macau for issuing the license for Encore. He also promised in his opening speech that the resort would be economically beneficial for Macau. "I am grateful to the People’s Republic of China and the Government of Macau who gave us this opportunity. As a result, the loveliest hotel in the world is not in London, Paris, Tokyo, New York or San Francisco. It is here in Macau." If the opening ceremony is any indication of how well the casino will perform, then the people of Macau will have something to smile about…
The Encore hotel covers over 19.000 m2, with over 400 rooms and suites. Steve Wynn said: "Our goal with Encore was to broaden the appeal of Macau as a tourist destination and open the most beautiful hotel in the world." Like the Encore in Las Vegas, in addition to gambling, the resort features a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars, lounges and a spa to please gamblers and visitors alike.
